Three dozen games, almost two dozen teams, half a dozen rinks, and a season cut three weeks short. The 2020 Colorado Prep Hockey League season will be remembered, if nothing else, for being somewhat unconventional (at the time). We may look back at it as the high school season that began the “new normal.” Shaw Hockey Productions was pleased to cover Tier 1 and Tier 2 games for Valor Christian and Regis Jesuit during the 2020 CPHL season. At the time of writing, the season has been cut short due to a move to level “orange” on the COVID-19 dial for the majority of the front range counties. (Edit: It has since moved to the new “red” status making the likelihood of future games low.) Interested in coverage for a season like this? Get in touch. "These televised games have been simply AWESOME to watch! A full moon on Halloween and the end of daylight savings time all coincided in the middle of the 2020 Fright Fest Tournament hosted by Foothills Hockey Association. The way that the calendars lined up for this year's tournament wasn't the only thing that was a little bit different about it. In the midst of an ever-changing COVID-19 environment, Fright Fest games held at Foothills Ice Arena were played without spectators. Two divisions in each of three age groups faced off from Thursday afternoon through Sunday evening. Through our partnership with Foothills Hockey Association, Shaw Hockey Productions was able to offer an attractive per game cost to teams as well as make consolation and championship games available at no additional charge to participating teams. We provided video coverage and live streaming for 32 games across the 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions. Interested in coverage for an event like this? Get in touch. While families, fans, and friends weren't able to watch the games in-person, there were several activities going on outside the rink. Friday [...]

As the summer months came to end and the school year was beginning, teams began to practice for the second event of the season to start the 2020 Colorado Prep Hockey League. The 9th Annual Twisted Wrister took place over Labor Day weekend, September 3-7, 2020, at The Ice Ranch in Littleton, CO. Eighteen teams in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 divisions competed in the USA Hockey sanctioned event. Shaw Hockey Productions was on-site covering over 20 games on both the LHA and Hawks rinks including all of the playoffs, semi-finals, and final games in both divisions. We saw everything from blowouts to shootouts during the four-day holiday weekend tournament. Manny Furtado and Gabe Gauthier joined us for play by play and color commentary during key matchups while several teams had their own commentators for select round robin games. It started with a Facebook post. We saw Dawg Nation Hockey Foundation founder and CEO, Marty Richardson, write that Dawg Nation were hoping to be able to bring Dawg Bowl X to a viewing audience of some kind. They said they would try and use an iPad in the rink for some of the bigger games and hopefully be able to do a Facebook Live. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, for the first time in its ten-year history, spectators would not be allowed in the rink for the 2020 Dawg Bowl. Through a mutual friend of Shaw Hockey Productions, we contacted Marty and began a conversation that would lead to the most successful Dawg Bowl ever. Interested in coverage for an event like this?
